Heather Alexander
(She/Her/Hers)
Heather is a Canadian Certified Counsellor who holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. She brings a warm, collaborative approach to her work with adolescents and adults. As a Mi’kmaw counsellor with roots in Nujio’qon, Ktaqmkuk (Bay St. George area of Newfoundland), who also carries settler ancestry, Heather’s practice is grounded in storytelling and a deep respect for wellbeing as a layered framework. Heather brings a curiosity for both internal and external experiences—how people feel, respond, and make meaning of their lives through narratives and broader social contexts. She supports individuals in navigating stress, overwhelming emotions, trauma, patterns that feel difficult to move through, challenges with self-worth and self-trust, and complex relationships. She also integrates practical strategies to support clients in navigating day-to-day challenges, drawing in part from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), including mindfulness and skills for coping with distress.
